Air KFC

No kidding, we'll be served KFC on the flight back from Tokyo.  From the JAL press release:

"KFC is widely popular in Japan particularly during the Christmas season. This year end, JAL and KFC will bring customers a festive cheer onboard with the original [AIR KENTUCKY FRIEND CHICKEN]"

Why is it so popular during Christmas? I find it interesting that KFC brings customers a festive cheer, but then again, the Japanese probably wonder why a rabbit brings Americans cream-filled chocolate eggs in April.

A Trip for the Plane

The main reason I'm heading to Japan isn't for the anime, sushi, or sumo wrestling - it's to fly the new Boeing 787.  Don't get me wrong, I'll probably love Japan, but the reason for the trip remains the plane and not the country.

The 787 can fly nonstop from San Diego to Tokyo which is a great feat for a small(ish) plane.  I'm also interested to see if the plane lives up to its billing as a more comfortable and relaxing vehicle which helps me to arrive at my destination rested and stress-free.

Oh, and I'm flying on the first commercial 787 flight and the first nonstop flight from San Diego to Tokyo ever. That's just cool!
